Aughnacloy Summer Festival 2015

Aughnacloy Summer Festival 2015 aka Boogie in the Park, will kick off with a Treasure Hunt on Thursday 23rd July at 7pm from Aughnacloy Playing Fields. This is a great opportunity to reacquaint yourself with the beauty of our local countryside and involve all the family in an evening of riddle solving on the move! Entry fee will be £10 per car.
On Friday Evening a Justin McGurk & The Boogie Men will be rocking the place alive as they headline the Boogie in the Park. A barbecue should provide sufficient sustenance for a jiving competition which should attract the best of the local dancing talent. A raffle with some fantastic prizes will also feature for those who chance their luck. http://www.justinmcgurk.co.uk Soundwave DJz will also be playing. Tickets for this event are £15 and can be purchased from Aughnacloy Development Office at McCreedys Mill tel 85557002 or contact Festival Chairperson Paddy Douglas on 07856-993714
Saturday will see a fun packed day with childrens soccer & Gaelic football tournaments, RodeoWreck Roadshow, bouncy castles, rodeo bull and much more leading up to highly anticipated Tug of War, Yard of Ale competitions. Last years tug of war was surprisingly entertaining, megacompetive and evidently stressful for the dedicated and in the Ned hoarse team coaches! The yard of ale if more leisurely still proved a challenge for the those thirstdriven and determined enough. ” Soundwave DJz” and the highly talented Man in Black will round the evening off musically in the Marquee.
A golf tournament sponsored by Saltmarine Cars will also be held at Aughnacloy Golf Club. Contact the club on 8555 7050 for a slot on the time sheet.
A cycle sportive will be held on Sunday to bring the festival to a close. this proved a great success last year with over 130 taking part and we are hoping to see even more entrants tackling the 53k or 106k event this year. The 106k route will take in Emyvale, Monaghan, Caledon, the Dyan, Granville and Rehaghey
The festival is organised by Aughnacloy Development Association & Supported by Mid-Ulster Council. As always we also receive sponsorship numerous local traders from both the town and further afield. Our sincere thanks to all of them. Proceeds raised will be help both the Chest Heart & Stroke Association and Aughnacloy Christmas Lights Festival.
