Coronavirus business advice

Latest updates to Companies House services

In response to the coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak, we’re closely following government guidelines. We have plans in place to maintain services for our customers and to protect the welfare of our employees.

Corporate Insolvency and Governance Bill

The government has introduced the Corporate Insolvency and Governance Bill, which will relieve the burden on businesses and support economic recovery.

Find out how the Bill will help your business.

Many of the measures in the Bill will need secondary legislation before they come into force. Nothing will change until that legislation is introduced.

You can read explanations of each of the measures in these factsheets from the Department for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy (BEIS).

Stay safe at work

The government, in consultation with industry, has produced guidance to help make sure workplaces are as safe as possible.

BEIS has also hosted webinars on working safely during coronavirus.

Read the guidance and listen to the webinar recordings to make sure that you’re working safely.

You can also watch safer workplace case studies to see how a range of workplace settings are returning to work safely.

Support for businesses and employees

The government has announced a package of support available to businesses and employees during the coronavirus outbreak.

Visit gov.uk/business-support or use the business support finder to find out more about the support available to you and your business.

Use our online services

It’s taking longer than usual to process paper documents. Where possible, use our online services to help us process your information as quickly as possible.

You can now use our ‘Upload a document to Companies House’ service to upload and submit a small selection of documents. As this service is updated, it will include more document types and features.

This service will only be available for a selection of paper documents that do not already have an online option.

If your company cannot file accounts on time

If you think the impact of coronavirus will cause delays in filing your company accounts, you can apply for a 3 month extension. You must apply before your filing deadline.

Supporting businesses with their filing requirements

We’re committed to supporting businesses who may be struggling with their filing requirements during the coronavirus outbreak.

Find out about the changes we’ve made to give companies time to update their records and avoid being struck off the register.
